We Family run by Seasonal
Back in 1962 in the Town of Allen a gentleman by the name of Charles Edmond McCarthy Sr. began a business that continues almost 60 years later, through the hard work of his son Eugene, and his wife Raquel. Looking at an aerial shot of the property then, a few scattered campers dotted the farm land, contrasting with a more recent shot showing about 300 campers with full hook ups. Located at 9628 Old State Road, Angelica, this natural setting provides an escape from city living for folks, mostly from Rochester and Buffalo, who leave their campers here year round, for a very reasonable $1,000.00 fee. The turnover rate is practically non-existent. Eugene took over in 1990, married Raquel in 2001, and she took over the bookkeeping and office work. The “ranch” officially opens May 1, and the water is turned off toward the Middle of October. Those wishing to stay for hunting season can come, but must bring their own water. To the original 300 acres another 100 acres have recently been purchased that already had ATV trails laid out. These trails are only for the use of the campers, and the 4-wheelers and such must have current registration and insurance. Unfortunately, this year, due to the Covid, things have changed, and they have no longer been able to keep the Rec room open, nor the camp store. Even the swimming beach is closed. They have 6 ponds for catch and release fishing. On holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and before Thank giving have Pig roast) they have fireworks events. Before Covid, they also had music groups come and perform. It’s nice to see folks out enjoying the fresh country air and the beauty of this neighboring town.
